Quebec Holiday Weather Overview
Visitors to Quebec City could be forgiven for thinking they're in France. The capital city of the Quebec region of Canada, this French-speaking city is one of Canada's oldest and most charming. There's a definite French flair, with pavement cafes and sophisticated chic. There's plenty of history too - the old city is the only walled city in North America, and a designated UNESCO World Heritage site.
Quebec is a wonderful city to visit at any time of the year, but the summer and winter months especially are full of special events and festivals.

Quebec City technically has a humid continental climate. What this means in practice is warm or hot summers, freezing winters and chilly to mild shoulder seasons.
Quebec City in Spring
Spring in Quebec City is maple syrup season. Visitors flock to the city at this time, to see the harvest and to sample delicious maple syrup treats.
The weather in Quebec City in the spring is cool and damp. In March, average daily highs sit right around freezing, with overnight lows of -9°C and you can expect around 18 inches of fresh snowfall to add to the lying snow. April and May become considerably warmer, however, with most of the snow gone by mid April and average daily highs of 8°C in April and 17°C in May. Nights are still chilly well into May, however, at only around 5°C, so bring a sweater even if you're visiting in late Spring.
Quebec City in Summer
Summer is an extremely busy season in Quebec. Visitors pour into the city to experience its many festivals, and hotel reservations need to be made well in advance.
June, July and August in Quebec City bring average daily highs of around 23-24°C, but sometimes the temperature pushes much higher, into the low 30s Celsius. Nights are considerably cooler, with the temperature falling to around 12°C, so a shawl or a coverup is recommended for summer nights. Take an umbrella too, as summer is the wettest season in Quebec - on average, you can expect to see rain on 13 or 14 days each month.
Quebec City in Autumn
September is still a busy month in Quebec City, but by October and November most of the crowds are gone, so this is a pleasant and relatively cheap time to visit the city. The autumn colours of the maple trees add a spectacular backdrop to the city, but it can be chilly.
Octobers sees average daily highs of 11°C with chilly nights at 2°C; by November, day time temperatures struggle barely above freezing, and nights are a very wintry -7 or -8. Snowfall begins in November, with around 12 inches of snow spread across the month. If you're visiting Quebec City in the autumn, you'll need a warm jacket, scarf, hat, gloves and boots.
Quebec City in Winter
Quebec's winters are harsh. Average daily highs are -4°C in December, falling to minus 7 in January, but it's often much colder than that. Nights reach toe freezing lows of minus 20 Celsius or lower, and around 28 inches of snowfall each month certainly makes for a white Christmas. There are plenty of wintry events and festivals going on, however, and provided you pack heavy duty winter clothing, a winter visit to Quebec City can be magical.
