Nissi Beach Holiday Weather Overview
Nissi Beach is a popular beach on the southern coast of Cyprus, and forms part of the resort of Ayia Nappa. The beach boasts crystal clear turquoise waters and white sand, and is well known for its uninhabited islet, just off the coast, which can be reached by wading through shallow water.
Nissi Beach and Ayia Nappa have a lively nightlife and as such are very popular destinations for young tourists. The beautiful weather makes this a year-round destination.
The Climate of Nissi Beach
Nissi Beach enjoys a Mediterranean climate, with long, hot summers and mild winters. There is wall to wall sunshine for much of the year, and most rainfall is concentrated in the winter months, with very little rain in the spring or summer.
Nissi Beach in the Summer
Nissi Beach's peak tourist months are June, July and August, at which time Nissi Beach is definitely hot. Average daily highs of around 32°C make for perfect beach weather, but bring a hat and plenty of sunscreen as well as your sunglasses.
Summer nights are a balmy 20°C on average, so you won't need to cover up much in order to party the night away. You're highly unlikely to catch any rain during the summer, but if you do, it will just be a brief shower.
Bear in mind that during peak season, Nissi Beach itself and all of the surrounding attractions - such as the giant waterpark - will be very crowded.
Nissi Beach in the Autumn
September is still very warm in Nissi Beach, with average daily highs of around 25°C - indeed, even in October, you can expect daily highs of 22°C. In fact, early autumn is an excellent time to visit Nissi Beach, as the weather is still very warm but the nights are refreshingly cool at around 16°C.
By November, average daily highs will have fallen to approximately 18°C - still warm, but not exactly sunbathing weather. Rain will start to increase too, but mostly in the form of showers.
If you're visiting Nissi Beach in the autumn, bring a wrap for the cooler evenings.
Nissi Beach in the Winter
Winter in Nissi Beach is very mild - daily highs of 14°C are common - but the nights can be a chilly 7-8°C, so bring long sleeves and a jacket. December is the resort's wettest month, and the rain can be prolonged. However, with an average of 5 hours sunshine per day throughout the winter, the wet and windy weather is interspersed with bright sunshine. This is a good time to explore the museums of Ayia Nappa - although, since this is after all a beach resort, there is not a great deal going on during the winter months.
Nissi Beach in the Spring
Spring comes early to Nissi Beach and by March average daily highs are already reaching 17°C. Mid to late spring is an ideal time to visit, as it's warm, dry and sunny but nowhere near as crowded as it will become during the summer months. Take some layered clothing, however, as evenings can be cool.
