Rothenburg ob der Tauber, more commonly known as just Rothenburg, is a remarkably preserved medieval town in Bavaria, Germany. Featuring fairytale architecture, cobbled streets and cosy inns, it’s a town which looks like it’s an illustration in a story book and as such, it draws visitors from around the world.
Rothenburg forms part of the famous “Romantic Road” through southern Germany, but there’s more to this little town than just its picture postcard looks. There’s an interesting crime museum, a double bridge and a famed tower which affords beautiful views. Pack a waterproof, warm jacket, a hat and some gloves, so that you can stay outside to make the most of the town’s winter fayres and activities.
